We have a very fine 1974 film to watch. No dramatisation is going to be perfect, but this captures the essence of the story, the innocence of childhood and the joys of camping and sailing. Added to which Evgenia had some input to script, locations etc.
Why should we want to see the 1963 film? It was frightful, introducing two new characters, Sam Packer and Ernie Kidd. AR was only credited in 4 of the 6 episodes which tells something!
AR hated it. I really do not want to watch Titty/Kitty in a duffle coat and lifejacket or a goggle-eyed Nancy in a stripy cap to pollute the memory of a very special book.
Best left forgotten, say I
