The Wikipedia entry for New Years Honours 1953 does contain an entry for AR under CBE Civil Division http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_New_Year_Honours. And the entry does link to the Wikipedia entry for AR.
As far as an AR reference, see his letter to Barbara Gnosspelius March 12 1953, reproduced in Hugh Brogan's Signalling from Mars Page 337-8.

I didn't know about it until Roger's post led me to root through SfM for letters in 1952/1953 - and am not sure I ever knew (or at least remembered) that he had been awarded the CBE.
