Sometimes, when it is out of focus, I select Langdale Valley, let it settle, then back to S&A.

That sounds like the Bank Ground Farm camera... The Ferrycam is fixed, isn't it?

The Bank Ground camera seems to be very reliable, but that's possibly because it's enclosed, rather than being out in the open. The drawback there is that in heavy rain, the protective window can mist up, or raindrops can stick to the outside and make the image unviewable, or cause the automatic focusing to sharpen on the rain drops, throwing the main view out of focus. Then if you switch to Langdale Valley, it may well focus on the main view (less raindrops that side?) and when you come back to S&A, the pattern of drops may have changed and it may pick on the bit of the picture you want to see in focus.

The FBA camera may be suffering from a similar focusing problem, but there's no way to control it from our end. This (Wed) morning at 10:05 it's still out of focus, although not as much as I remember it being yesterday, and it's in monochrome, which may be because it's dark...
