Christina only mentions that Arthur Ransome had a copy of 'Mehala' among his extensive library.
I am not sure that there is much of a direct link. Ransome said that the Amazons sprung to life when he saw two little girls playing by the lake shore. (Autobiography) This has sometimes been mis-quoted to read girls in red caps. So it is possible that the red caps came from 'Mehala', but i know of no written evidence to support this.
I think that Daisy, who is at home in the wild marshland of the Secret Water and has made it her playground, may well owe something to Mehalah, whereas Nancy and Peggy are out of their element, unfamiliar with tidal waters and saltings and very much visitors in an alien landscape.
