maybe I should not have boldly announced that anyone can visit Peel Island. People do, but whether the National Trust approves is unknown.
I have just just looked at the Ordnance Survey map of Coniston, and Peel Island appears as "National Trust - always open", so any visitors who sail, canoe or swim there need not worry.
