Thanks, Owen - you have more or less summed up what the Forestry Commission Ranger wrote. With regard to the new door, I do hope the appropriate "bit of string" will be provided.
With regard to your mention of TARS, I am sure we are all aware of the rule set out in Tarboard FAQ but there are very occasional 'grey areas' which we can stumble into. Moderation may be necessary on such occasions, as you say, but I hope this can be done cheerfully and without the need for 'lectures'.
