When I first saw the dogs' Home it was inhabited and the elderly hermit/vagrant/loner who was living there did not take kindly to our inspection but stood scowling and brandishing a fat roll of banknotes, and I felt that he could turn nasty at any moment. The following year he was gone but his mess remained.
