A couple of thoughts.
I think the larder would have been on an outside wall, with a small window, possibly with frosted glass, and a metal mesh grill above it for ventilation.
The kitchen door would have been in the corridor leading to the back of the house rather than in the hall.
All in all, bearing in mind the period between the writing of WH and PM, AR was remarkably consistent in his drawings and descriptions.
