Another feature of the wartime PM, was that the typeface size was slightly reduced so that the page count was less than other books.
In fact it is longer than SW, ML and WD.
Certainly the paper quality never regained pre-war levels. Dickinsons was still capable of producing fine quality paper – I wonder if it was too expensive or whether declining books sales did not merit premium paper.
Do anyone know a source of books sales year by year or how many were produced in each impression printed, please?
