I wish I could reproduce the unrealised sketch for the camp in the Beckfoot garden for it shows an interesting variation that pulls the differing chimney positions together. For those splendid folk who have a copy of 'Ransome the Artist' it is on page 36.
The viewpoint is from across the river facing the house. It clears up one query; the two 'wings' are joined.
Now the two chimneys on the main house are placed asymetrically with the chimney on the end nearest to the addition being closer to, but not on the gable end (5mm). The other chimney is 13mm from the far end, in a roof 47mm in length. Similarly, the single chimney on the addition is close to (5mm) the main house and 13mm from the end facing the coppice. Draw it out and you will get the idea.
