This did come up before, for me it was still a shock to hear this clearly upper class stilted voice - I think I was expecting someone certainly well spoken but with a more friendly tone (this is not a very good description but I think it was based on what he did in his life and his friendships.)
Perhaps he was too aware of being recorded, and actually didn't like it much - similar to how many of us have telephone voices!
