According to what I have read, they wake early and practice the piano before breakfast. Then spend the morning with a little light painting or maybe sculpture, then reading in the afternoon. They go to Paris for painting lessons. Several of them had books published.
True, W.G. had a job, and did go to work (Ruskin's secretary), and they live rent-free at Lanehead...but they seem very upper middle class to me, and possibly a little 'above' the Ransomes according to a diary entry I recall.
