It would seem surprising that Holly Howe had electricity and Beckfoot didn't (an electric light is switched on and off in Holly Howe in Winter Holiday, isn't it?)
The glimmer of a lantern or candle does not necessarily mean that there was no electricity, although I guess it would tend to suggest it.
Incidentally - those two illustrations from PM are indeed very different in terms of chimney location, but are quite similar in terms of the general "essence" of the house, whereas there are some other illustrations of Beckfoot (normally small ones for chapter headers) where it seems much grander.
