Most of the large houses in the area are to be found around Windermere (the lake) when rich Victorian cotton barons built them and settled there.
The house that I think is the most like Beckfoot in appearance is 'Town Head' just north of Fell Foot Park. Town Head was owned by a fishing friend of AR's and is quite close to Low Ludderburn.
The property changed hands recently and was featured in the Telegraph.
