Do you feel that's likely? I find it very hard to imagine. AR's pictures, indefinite as they are, certainly don't suggest that to me. Not necessarily a cotton baron's mansion, but very much a well off Victorian's idea of a country house. And at that time this would involve a servants' and service wing, and a stable for the horse and trap.

Not palatial, but I'd have expected it to be much more 'tall' than a farmhouse. What now we'd think of as 'well off middle class'. A professional man's country home.
