Well, many thanks to you both, Rob. Clearly it was well worth persevering. (And I for one would be willing to help with a donation towards those 'extras', too.)
Two things about the interior have puzzled me (apart from the stonework, to which I hadn't given any thought.) One is the sawn-off beams projecting from the end wall to the left of the door, which to me suggest the presence of a loft at some stage; and the other is the height of the roof beams themselves -- I can't imagine anyone being able to successfully suspend hammocks from them.
