Regarding Swallowdale, Jon Spark's idea (in his book, "Arthur Ransome's Lake District") that it might be hidden inside Grizedale Forest might be worth investigating. The local Forestry Commission office should have maps - or even aerial photos - of the area which might reveal it, based on my past employment with them 13 years ago.
