The Ferry cam was down for some time, and there was talk of having to move it or even abandon it. And in fact I think it is now in a slightly different place. I exchanged some e-mails with the Freshwater Biological Association at the time it was down. In the process I was told that the original purpose of the cam (and indeed an ongoing purpose) was so the staff at work could see what was going on and exactly when the ferry might be arriving.
