This seems to be the whole point. I'm sure we are all pleased to see the Witch's Cottage and The Butt and Oyster are still there. But this is not the same as seeing them as Ransome saw them.
Alma Cottage was a guest house and tea rooms. Now it is three cottages and there are two greatly enlarged windows. No sailmaker plies his trade next door, the shore has sprouted a mini-promenade with seats and The Butt has an abundance of benches outside. All the red-sailed barges that were on the hard 50 years ago have gone elsewhere . . . .
Time, development, modernisation, call it what you will, has inevitably left its mark on Pin Mill etc.
