All the centreboard dinghies that I have seen have a slot in the keel.
It will be quite a job to cut a slot in the resin hull, I should think, but nothing to the effort of cutting the slot in the new oak keel with hand tools, when I restored AR's second Swallow. The old keel had cracked at the slit and had to be removed, and a couple of new planks needed to be scarfed in and most of the timbers had to be doubled.
