I don't want to prolong the discussion of the 'Mavis' accident, but I think I should reassure Mike, and anyone who was not on Tarboard at the time, that Pauline did not take part in the online discussion. What had happened was that a TARS member had written an unfortunate letter to the Westmorland Gazette about the matter, and Pauline had become most upset about this and had spoken to some of us privately. The backwash spilled onto Tarboard, mainly concerning the issue of 'Mavis' being difficult to sail. I think this historical matter is best left there.
