Does anyone here have image editing and video skills? I'd like to see an animation which slowly morphs from Ransome's map of Secret Water, to the 1940s ordnance survey map, to the latest satellite imagery from Google.

It would illustrate how the maps in the books were close to the real topography, but things were squished or moved a little...and then show how the islands changed over time. Islands morph into promentaries, and creeks recede or grow.

If you've never been there, the land round Hamford Water is so flat you have trouble identifying anything just by looking round. It is really hard to navigate from water level when sitting in a dinghy. You're constantly referring to the map; not so much to see where you are and where to go, but to make some sense out of what your eyes are straining to see in the landscape!
