Dave; thanks very much for posting that. Roger; it's a splendid interview, very revealing. And it makes a lot of sense, given AR's history.
Clearly, from her account, for him writing the books was a holiday from his demons, as well as a way of earning a living, of course.
It's also very revealing about the Collingwoods, who sound like a very English family of their time. But AR being 'besotted' with the Collies does confirm to me that Beckfoot owed its soul to Lanehead, if nothing else.
