It is interesting. A lot of people of the era had very consistent, exact handwriting that would be repeated every time (my own grandparents letters certainly take that form although, thinking about it, I have only seen grandmothers' handwriting not grandfathers). It is sometimes suggested that artistic people have changeable handwritings for they rather experiment with it (not necessarily consciously). Another possibility is that some of his later style was influenced by Russia and writing in Russian (but could easily be disproved by looking at his later, pre-Russia handwriting).
