PD (and ML) being "Peter Duck stories", what we see there can be viewed as "collaborative fiction". Events there would have been collectively agreed on (possibly with Captain Flint exerting a moderating influence). SW, however, was a "real world" adventure, and the only one of the canon where there are no adults playing an active role, or liable to descend on the campers.
