How about CC and BS set in a particular place Mike?
I always think that AR treats Nancy like a puppet, according to the needs of the Swallows and the plot until PM. Enemy/ally in SA, banished except for essential plot movement in SD and WH,
Her need for a father-figure setting them all off in PP, and the necessary tension in SW. Only in PM does she become three dimensional, yet at the same time, readers expect her to want to play just as she did in SA. I wonder what the rest of the summer holidays would really have been like, with the Ss having had the maturing WD experience. In GN, Nancy manages to be the same strong girl enjoying the sailing for its own sake, but with piracy forgotten, and yet she remains interesting as she supports Dick.
