Peggy also leads Susan in cooking aboard ships, both Viper & Sea Bear. There is a lovely picture & some writing in PD in which Peggy introduces Susan to the galley on Viper. I am a cook, so I have always loved the illustrations of cooking areas.
Also, although Peggy definitely follows Nancy's lead most of the time, when Nancy has mumps, Peggy takes over and attempts to do the things Nancy would have. She is the younger sister of a very Amazonian piratical older sister, so it makes sense that she follows when Nancy leads. However, she has had most of the same experiences Nancy has, so she knows stuff and can lead when she is on her own.
