I'm new to TarBoard, so please be kind and point to useful links if this subject has already been 'done'. I'd like to read anything that's been written about Ransome's language - not the Norfolk or Westmorland dialect, but the language spoken by the children and the non-local adults. It's obviously dated, but perhaps someone has looked at it in more detail. I even wonder whether it might tell us something about the period of time that was in Ransome's head as he wrote: was it really the 1920 and 30s, or pre-WWI? And perhaps language, behaviour and social customs can be linked? Any pointers would be much appreciated.
