Thank you for the additional information, Roger.
1. A 42 ft paddle steamer is a serious piece of kit, the MacIvors must have been fairly wealthy to afford such a boat.
2. I agree with your sentiment on this.
3. Not sure I entirely agree with this, AR usually took some pains to achieve realistic pictures – including using photographs as a basis for some pictures.
4. This may well be the reason.
5. This is interesting – my picture shows a square-ish building rather than a long narrow artefact.

A regards to Peter H’s thoughts on the Borrans Park site, whilst I do not discount the Borrans Park building, so far it has been photographically elusive. However to be fair, not many Waterhead pictures are taken from the water and also few of parkland unless there is a specific feature to generate enthusiasm for a picture. Picture taking with a roll film camera was very different from today’s “shoot everything” and “remember nothing” attitude.
I am not so sure about post holes. It would not be the first time that even trained archaeologists have initially mistaken post holes for the remains of the infamous bell tent squat loos so beloved of some scout troops. Usually on further investigation, when the holes had been filled in the opportunity the scouts took the opportunity to bury rubbish and thus “Ancient-Briton” chocolate wrappers can be found!

Anyway I keep searching in the hope of finding some forgotten snaps. I do not want to access Facebook, perhaps someone such as Jock could help Duncan to place this picture on TarBoard?
