I take Owen's point about the post holes and I am also dubious about archaeology using dowsing, as I am of the 'Dick Callum' School on this. However, one must keep an open mind. There must have been some sort of building on that site, and Duncan's photo is further proof, but I think I can make out a free-standing flag pole to the left of the building, which is contrary to Dick Kelsall's recollection that the flag pole was projecting from the roof. The mystery deepens . . .
