Thanks to Duncan and Jock for the additional information.
Although the postcard came from an AR collector - the title "Head of the Lake" may be misleading us all - as it does not specify which lake.
Perhaps there is more information that would positively identify the lake as either Windermere or Coniston or perhaps another lake.
I have tried copying down Duncan’s picture and enlarging it, but unfortunately it does not reveal any further useful information before the picture become undecipherable. This does happen with postcards of this era, as the printing process included colour washes that make the postcard less distinct. The only postcards which are good for detailed inspection as either the black and white or sepia postcards marked “Real Photograph”.
So far I have not been able to match Duncan’s picture with any of my postcards of the Head of Windermere, so it must over to the western side and possibly on the Brathay.
