Well I agree about the "falling snow" quote from WH, but from CN1 how about:
"The Death and Glory was very much as she had been the year before. The money her owners had earned by the catch of the enormous pike had somehow gone , as money does go, before they had done any of the things that in their first moment of wealth they had planned".
