Those who are lucky enough to have the relevant finances may be interested in the auction next Wednesday 4th March of several rare Ransome editions, including a complete set of the 12 first editions in reasonable dust-wrappers. Also in the auction are sets of the Canadian and Australian editions as well as some signed individual copies.
Tennants auction house is the largest and most well-known in the north of England. The auction begins at 12 noon GMT, but there is also an online auction facility here .
Good luck to anyone who wants to bid - my own personal collection includes a very tatty ordinary copy of Swallowdale, but I cherish it because it belonged to my late cousin who introduced me to the Ransome books. It's worth nothing financially, but means far more to me than a first edition because of my cousin's name inscribed inside.
