If you worry about faded spines, the fading can be reversed simply by painting in Hookers green watercolour paint with a touch of black.
You need to exercise a little care painting round the gold blocked lettering. But any overrun can usually be removed with a cotton bud.
Good brands in the UK are Windsor & Newton, Daler Rowney and also Reeves.
