If you worry about faded spines, the fading can be reversed simply by painting in Hookers green watercolour paint with a touch of black.
I'm interested by the way that some of my spines have faded very differently from the others. My WH and PM have both faded to a sharply bleached gray/yellow. This must be sun fading- the boards, hidden from the sun by the others on the shelf, have remained green, as have all the other spines on the same shelf. The books all date from around 1948, and have been kept in similar conditions, so I'm not sure why those two should have faded so much more.
However, it makes no difference to my enjoyment of the books...
Anyway, I'm now reading them as Kindle books, on an iPad Mini, where they're so clear, and I can actually carry them around and read them wherever I am.
There really is such a thing as progress.
