Back around 1970 I was working in Australia's Northern Territory, a sparsely populated desert region. My work as a geologist took me out into the bush quite a lot, and on a few occasions I was accompanied by a geophysicist who brought along his astronomical telescope. Thus we were able to view the heavens in a completely dark environment; an unforgettable experience!
