We know that AR wanted to change the start date from 1929 to 1930, but Cape’s refused.
Not sure that there would be much change anyway between 1929 and late 1930’s as the Country was coming out of recession and there was not much innovation. But there was a spread of wireless and electricity.
The damage might be done in making the film relatable to modern audiences. Not sure that this is necessary as many people seem to be able to relate to interwar’s productions like Downton Abbey without difficulty.
Spall Jnr seems to have too much hair and too little fat to be a natural for CF. But makeup can do wonders.
