The "hollywoods", i.e. photographs, helped AR with the drawings for Peter Duck and Winter Holiday. Dick recalled this when speaking to Christina Hardyment (see her book Arthur Ransome & Captain Flint's Trunk- 2006 edition, p. 53). Other local children joined in, e.g. for a photo of turning a capstan, which was the model for the illustration in Peter Duck p. 141.
