In my opinion "unviewable" is the right word, whether the 1963 film is restored or not! The merest snippet you can see on youtube is enough to explain why Ransome himself hated the whole thing (although he didn't like any TV at all).
Think of the worst Enid Blyton parody you can, and you won't be far off.
I expect that those who were under 15 when the BBC broadcast it might have fond memories, but at that age kids hoover up whatever they can get without being too critical. Please forgive my adult opinions if that applies to you!
