There was a fair old movement in word standards through the '60s so I am not surprised in the difference between the second and third edition.
My daughter Charlotte once told me that she liked the raw earthy talk between men in the wood shop. I laughed and said to her - really - and she said yes.
I said to her, well if you consider that there are 5 levels of language from 1 - that which one would use withe GA and 5 that which you would use in a real blow in sail boat outside with Captain Flint then when she was in the wood shop I said at most it was a 2.
She asked what 5 was like and I laughed again and said - your mother would kill me.
She just shook her head and said Dad you never use that language and I laughed and agreed with her. Remind me never to take her outside in a large blow.
