Yes, that's what is confusing to me. I'm struggling to work out why they choose "Tatty"?
They could have chosen any "normal" name with a similar sound, as was done previously by using "Kitty" for the TV series, or "Tilly" as suggested.
However, they chose to use an extremely obscure name that is also a common word with other well-known meanings like "frayed", "scruffy", or even "potato", which are all rather derogatory as a name!
I can only think that they chose "Tatty" precisely because of the "Titty and Tatty Mouse" story, from which the real Titty got her nickname.
However, choosing that as the name of the character in the film is rather meaningless/confusing, unless they are going to actually explain that she's named after the TATTY in the "Titty mouse and Tatty Mouse" story in the film.
So, they deliberately chose another "weird" name, instead of a "normal" one, and because they did that, they're going to have to add something to the film that they didn't need to, so as to explain how "Tatty" got her name from the "Titty Mouse and Tatty Mouse" story?!
Or maybe they're going to say that her real name is Tatiana with the nickname Tatty? With a name like that she wouldn't really fit in with quintessentially English John, Susan and Roger, so maybe she'll be the love child of a Russian Princess and "Arthur Ransome the spy"!
My head is spinning trying to work out the logic!
