Living in London, Dot would have known that the only through train for The Lake Country was the mid-day 'Lakes Express' from Euston. But this stopped at Rugby but not Crewe. It arrived at Strickland Junction at 4.48 and came to a stop at Rio at 5.25. Was this AR's smoke screen? Otherwise, Shrewsbury makes good sense.
