The boat with no name

It seems unthinkable that Ransome would use a boat as a major part in a story, yet never give it a name. So many minor passing references to boats come complete with a name (a brief mention of Grizzled Skipper, for example). I find it odd that the cumbersome mouthful "Captain Flint's houseboat" is used again and again in the text.

Doesn't the houseboat have a name?
Isn't this odd?

Obviously she gets called The Fram later on, but this can't be a reason for ignoring the lack of name throughout the first book?
