Recenty, I had an enquiry about Clifford Webb from a potential bIographer of Webb.
I was able to point him to The Best of Chidhood which seemed to answer his points.
He said that the Webb family had a different take on events. The story from Webb’s side is that Ransome quibbled so much and demanded so many changes for SA and SD that Webb got fed up - the last straw being when Ransome turned up late at night, banging on the door demanding yet more changes. Ella Webb was already in bed and Clifford on his way and Clifford refused to work with him any more.
