I think that AR cooled towards the Swallows after his Aleppo visit. This may have been because of the differences with EA or because the real children had grown away from the Swallows ideal.
In later lakes novels of WH & PP, the D’s take the starring roles and in PM the Swallows are off stage altogether.
The Swallows do feature strongly in WD & SW, but they have been removed from the lakes where AR associated them with the Altounyans. They are absent in CC & B6. They only re-join the others in ML & GN - which are more fantasy stories.
