As a lad, and having read "The Big Six" I thought I'd try my hand at photography and dark room.
So with a meagre amount of money and a slide projector for an enlarger
(white vinegar for a stop bath) and cadged developer and fixer (crystals of sodium thiosulphate) I attempted to process and print a film (127). OOps.... Dick's film must have been orthochromatic, which you can develop by inspection under a safelight... mine was Verichrome Pan.....
I didn't know the difference, so Dick cost me some money.....
I didn't try "printing out" paper which is what dick used for the prints (when I got it right I used Bromesko instead, beautifully soft brown prints.....)
But dick did spark the photo bug... and eventually cost lots more money... 8-)
