On page 325 of Swallowdale (Summit of Kanchenjunga chapter) Titty quotes "And the red glare on Skiddaw roused the burghers of Carlisle". We know that one, too, said Peggy...It's worse than "Casabianca". Can anyone please help me to identify this poem and poet. I have tried Poets Corner but you need either a poet or a title. I have tried all the search engines but none of them can made the connection between Skiddaw, Burghers and Carlisle. Help please!
