"Not while my flag flies," panted Captain Flint. "Elephants, Elephants, Elephants for ever!"

I have started to research the appearance and dimensions of the elephant flag used by Captain Flint on the Houseboat. Not least because we own a namesake boat "Captain Flint" (his name and ours) for which the flag would be appropriate. In S&A the flag is described as a green flag with a huge white elephant in the middle, and John mentions that it is the Siamese flag. Peggy refers to it being brought back from the East the previous year.

However, I am unable to find reference anywhere to a Siamese flag which was green with a white elephant. I have found a red version which apparently was used in Siam 1855-1916, and there are blue naval versions. Useful illustrations and background information can be found at the following web site:

Does anyone know the answer to the origins of the green version of the elephant flag?
