Well we in the Rather Handsome Society have a precedent for phonetic spelling in Capn Flint - 'F for fool, I for idiot'.
Now 'redundant' - R for Askey (or in our case R for Ransome), E for vescent (or is it F for vescent?), D for . . .? D for Kate? Surely not. Does anyone know this one? You may have to be over a certain age, I'm afraid. I remember L for leather, T for two, O for a bottle of Tizer, B for mutton, J for orange, M for size, Q for everything these days . .Perhaps it's not so out of date as I thought.
