Ah... Potter Bridge.

Not very relevent this, but a good family story.

Shortly after my parents were marrued (and before I came along) they went sailingon the Broads. My father had done it before and knew Potter quite well, so as they approached the bridge from the south he jumped ashore and asked my mother to "throw up the rope".

Which she did.

Unfortunately it was the wrong rope.

Even more unfortunately the rope she threw wasn't actually attached to anything at the other end.

So while my father stood on the bank with a useless piece of rope in his hand, the boat moved steadily onwards crashing into the bridge a few seconds later.

Apparently it really made the day of many of the locals.
